The Emergency Medicine Foundation and the National Football League (NFL) Foundation have teamed up to provide physicians free online continuing education on the assessment and management of concussions. The course will be managed by Joseph F. Waeckerle, MD, FACEP, and funded by the NFL Foundation.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, traumatic brain injuries have increased 60 percent over the past decade. The accredited continuing medical education course developed by Dr. Waeckerle and members of ACEP covers a range of topics related to concussion: epidemiology, prevention and mitigation, recognition, management, and recovery and return play.
The course is approved by the ACEP for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 credits and a maximum of 1.5 hour(s) of ACEP Category I credit.
