ACEP’s Clinical Policy Committee revised its 2007 clinical policy “Critical Issues in the Evaluation and Management of Adult Patients Presenting to the Emergency Department with Acute Heart Failure Syndromes,” to reflect current practices. It provides evidence-based recommendations related to diagnostic accuracy of point-of-care ultrasound, administration of diuretics, vasodilator therapy with high-dose nitroglycerin, and potential outpatient discharge considerations.
