Those of us who care for emergency patients appreciate the importance of forbearance. In the ED we are a deep well of patience and understanding. The grace we extend to those who transgress is a priceless gift offered few other places in society outside of the church.

Throughout our careers, we will drop countless pebbles unmindful of the lasting effect the good fruit of our spirits will have on others. Your hand on someone’s shoulder, your kind words, or your gentle demeanor may seem unnoticed or inconsequential at the time. The outward effect of our actions will always be uncertain. However, the inward effect of peace and joy is assured.
