As the “official voice of emergency medicine,” ACEP Now strives to effectively tell the story of emergency medicine through the eyes, ears, and experiences of emergency physicians. Sharing victories, challenges, emotions, clinical advances, and much more, we hope that ACEP Now may, in some small way, serve the needs of our College, our specialty, and our nation’s emergency physicians.
Providing a constructive forum to challenge each other, promote professional and personal growth, and even, on occasion, challenge ACEP to represent what its members envision as the true and ideal spirit of emergency medicine is critical to our collective success in our next 50 years.
ACEP has celebrated anniversaries in the past, but nothing quite like this 50th anniversary. This is truly a monumental occasion for the specialty. Throughout the year, we have highlighted milestones since 1968 through the current time in our monthly issues. However, to truly capture the evolutionary journey of our specialty, we have produced this 50th Anniversary Issue. Follow along with our timeline and thumb through many of the events and advances that have shaped ACEP and emergency medicine to their current state. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
