Longtime ACEP member Dr. Earl J. Reisdorff was named executive director of the American Board of Emergency Medicine by its board of directors. His term became effective May 1.

ACEP News: Vol 29 – No 05 – May 2010Dr. Reisdorff has been a member of ACEP since 1988 and served on the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians’ Board of Directors from 1998 to 2003. He served as the chapter’s president from 2004 to 2005.
Currently a practicing emergency physician and director of medical education at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lan-sing, Mich., Dr. Reisdorff is also an associate professor in emergency medicine and past program director of the Michigan State University emergency medicine residency program.
Dr. Reisdorff has been active with ABEM as an oral board certification examiner since 1994, an item writer for the qualifying examination from 1999 to 2009, a senior case reviewer for the oral certification examination, and has participated as a member of the case development panel.
In 2003, the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services appointed Dr. Reisdorff to the council on graduate medical education, an advisory group to both DHHS and Congress on physician workforce and training.
