ACEP Now: Vol 41 – No 09 – September 2022Coney Island Emergency Medicine is a medium-sized community hospital in a big city setting where there is never a time to be bored. Residents have the chance to demonstrate their passions through quality improvement initiatives within the hospital that directly affect the community they are taking care of. The residency and emergency department administration are always supportive of residents’ endeavors. If you want to invoke change within a community while obtaining high-quality, hands-on education–Coney Island Hospital is the right place for you!
What are some fun activities residents like to partake in?
First-year residents start with 18 shifts per month and decrease by one shift every consecutive year. This gives first-year residents time to settle into the program and enjoy their time learning and living in Brooklyn, New York. Residents enjoy exploring the neighborhoods around the hospital and learning about Eastern European (primarily Russian) culture and food. Residents also enjoy the beach, boardwalk, hiking, running, and exploring New York City!
