Researchers on behalf of the Emergency Medicine Action Fund (EMAF) have created an acute care health policy bibliography built around the model by Dr. Brent Asplin. The updated conceptual model includes an input component (conditions, events or system characteristics that contribute to the demand for acute care services), a throughput section (processes that impact quality and efficiency of care delivery), and an output section (factors that influence a patient’s disposition after the acute care episode).
A new website shows the expanded model and links to more than 500 articles current to Nov. 2012. The articles are tagged to care coordination, payer class, cost center, triple aims, etc, and visitors to the site can search by tag, author, title or topic.
