Blue Jay Consulting, in collaboration with ACEP and the Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF), is accepting nominations for the 2015 Emergency Department Director of the Year Award. The deadline is Feb. 16, 2015.
The ED Director of the Year Award is given to an emergency department medical director who has demonstrated exemplary collaborative skills in the emergency department. The award nominee must be an active or life member of ACEP and must currently be in a leadership position in an emergency department. The nominee must demonstrate contributions to the department in the following categories:
- Collaboration with nursing
- Quality patient care
- Operational effectiveness
- Education
- Community service
- Synergistic approach to leadership within the hospital or hospital system
The nominee must demonstrate collaborative relationships with nursing and ancillary departments to implement and improve operational and clinical standards based on evidence-based practice. The nominee will create and sustain a high degree of patient satisfaction with emergency care delivery and will implement creative and innovative strategies to address emergency department throughput.
The selection panel, which will consist of appointees from EMF and Blue Jay Consulting, will judge the entries, with its recommendations subject to review by the EMF Board of Trustees. The awardee must be present at the Emergency Department Directors Academy in April 2015 in Dallas to receive the award. The date, time, and location will be posted on the EMF website. If the awardee is not scheduled to attend the course, airfare and one night’s hotel accommodation will be provided.
A member of ACEP may nominate himself/herself or another ACEP member for this award. The leadership teams of any hospital or health care system, physician groups, and any other medical industry professionals may also submit the nomination.
